Paying our way
Free, no strings
Every puzzle here — the daily ones, the numbered grids and free play — costs nothing, and you never have to sign up. Keeping the lights on still costs something: a server, a domain name and plenty of evenings spent on new grids. Here is how that gets covered.
Marked ad spaces
Most of the money is meant to come from ads. Pages you read rather than play on — home, the games list, level lists, the puzzle index, the rules hub and the guides — carry a single box marked “Advertisement”, and an ad can only ever land inside one of those boxes.
Google AdSense will fill them once it is switched on. Right now there is no ad network behind them at all; each box simply holds a two-line note from us, written for anyone who might want to advertise or sponsor.
Any page with a live grid on it stays clear: the game pages, every numbered puzzle and the daily. The small-print pages are left clear as well.
Sponsors
A business can also back Dingo Digits directly by attaching its name to a single game or a set of numbered puzzles. Anything like that carries a “Sponsored by …” tag plus the business name, so you always know who is talking. Sponsors get a mention, not a say in the puzzles.
Never, ever
- Ads inside a puzzle grid or sitting on top of its buttons.
- Paying to get ahead: no bought hints and no bought skips.
- Selling what we know about visitors, to anyone.
- Pop-ups that jump in front of a game.
